The Harwinton VFD Auxiliary aids and assists in various capacities; such as helping at large fires by providing food and drink.
The Auxiliary raises money for the department by holding fundraisers, including the Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast (not held in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic).
The Auxiliary also helps at the annual chicken barbecue, at the department’s food booth at the Harwinton Fair, and at the open house at the fire house during Fire Prevention Week in October.
The Auxiliary was originally formed in March 1945, but disbanded in December 1975 due to a lack of membership. It was revived in April 1980 and has been active ever since.
